Tamillia wants to outdo Beyoncé
The semi-finals of the Voice Kids 3 will be broadcast on Saturday (the teaser can be viewed here). In Saint-Martin, your fan club has even planned to project the show on a big screen. What’s the program for this event?
Tamillia: For the semi-finals, the four talents from each team will pass one by one. Then the coaches (M. Pokora, Jenifer and Patrick Fiori) will choose two candidates from their team to participate in the finals, which will be held live on October 8.
You qualified for the semi-finals because you won the battle which was aired on Saturday, September 24. What's it like to see yourself perform on TV? Are you sometimes too hard on yourself?
Yes. When I watch myself, I’m very critical. But also watching the video was like reliving that wonderful moment I had with my girlfriends Lauviah and Jeanne and so it was cool.
Up until the semi-finals (included), all the shows were recorded several months ago. Was it hard for you to have to keep the secret for such a long time?
Yes, it was hard to keep the secret but since it was finally broadcast this year, now I can tell everyone that I participated so it’s great!
Apart from the final result, did this adventure reassure you in the idea that you have a bright future ahead of you as a singer?
Yes, because when I saw the three coaches turn around, I said to myself that it was like a confirmation that they like my voice and that it’s unique.
What are your projects for the future?
I want to make a career in music and be an international star like Beyoncé, and even better than Beyoncé.
Do you plan to interpret songs written by other people or would you like to compose your own melodies and write your own lyrics?
I would like to compose songs myself and with my mother, too. I’ve already started to write one. Someone wrote the melody and I’m writing the lyrics.
Among the other candidates, which one(s) do you think are the most talented?
They are all talented, but I rather not to focus on that. I rather focus on myself so I can be better, and not look at the others.
What do you think about school? Do you consider your passion for singing to be more important? Do you plan on continuing your studies? In what subject?
My mother always says that school comes first, and music after. She explained to me that in music you need to know how to read, write, and count in order to understand the contracts for example. And that you learn all that in school, so it’s important. Apart from music, I’d like to become a surgeon. But I don’t know yet how I can do both.
