A young skipper drowns in the Bay of Grand Case

HE HAD BEEN WORKING FOR A YEAR AND A HALF AS SKIPPER ON A CATAMARAN.

On Monday, March 13, around 5 pm, a young 19-year-old skipper from the Grenadines drowned in Grand Case Bay. He jumped into the water between Creole Rock and Petite Plage, as he wanted to request six American clients to get back on the boat. These were swimming away from the boat. But he never returned to the surface.

Crews of the various boats nearby tried to rescue him and found his body at the bottom of the water. He was brought on the pontoons of Grand Case, where firefighters and the SMUR performed CPR for 20 to 25 minutes. In vain.

Due to the presence of water in the lungs, a coroner confirmed the death by drowning.
