Illegal garage shut down

All day long on Thursday, the gendarmes inspected three garages or related entities to check if the establishments were in good standing (registration with the Trade Registry, employees declared, vehicles in good standing and possible environmental violations). This operation was part of the COTAF, the territorial operational anti-fraud committee, created in Oktober 2015.

On Thursday at 3pm, the gendarmes went to the garage located between the bridge and the Agrément roundabout on land belonging belonging to the Collectivité. About 30 vehicles were crammed inside (mostly end-of-life vehicles) which had no papers. Everything concerning the garage was illegal: it hadn’t been declared anywhere, had no staff register, etc. It was clearly non-compliant with the environmental rules. The gendarmes have started to remove the vehicles with a tow truck. Given the considerable number of vehicles, the operation is expected to continue in the days to come.
