Made in SXM: a store 100% dedicated to local crafts

It is often said that Saint Martin lacks local crafts. With her shop, Élodie proves this preconception wrong. Based in Marigot since August 2024, this 37-year-old woman has created a veritable showcase for the island's talents in Marigot, where each product embodies a story and a skill.
“Saint Martin adopted me 20 years ago,” says Élodie. She first arrived in 2005 and immediately fell in love with the Friendly Island. After several years in mainland France, the long winters and nostalgia for the sun brought her back here in 2023. Six months later, she moved back for good with her family.
A pharmacy technician at the time, Élodie wanted a change of direction when she returned. Observing the island's evolution, she noticed how many more local creators there were than she remembered. “Many people were doing crafts, but there was no place that brought them all together,” she recalls. This is how the idea for “Made in SXM” was born, a 100% local boutique bringing together the talents of Saint Martin.

It was during the CCISM Spotlight event that Élodie met her first partner, the skincare brand Bulles et Beauté. Little by little, she built up a network of artisans who were won over by the concept. “The people I talked to loved the idea,” recalls the young mother. Today, the boutique brings together around fifteen designers from the island, with others set to join the adventure soon. Pottery, crocheted bags, natural cosmetics, jewelry, paintings, embroidery, coffee, and even moringa: everything is handmade and carefully selected. “I select what I like, and above all, what is well finished. I want everything to be high quality, worthy of a Saint Martin storefront,” promises the business owner.
All year round,  Élodie wants to send a strong message: “You don't have to buy online. Here, you can find unique items, made with love, that don't come from the other side of the world,” she emphasizes. When you walk through the door of “Made in SXM,” you'll leave with a little piece of Saint Martin.
