Sint Maarten: employee of immigration service arrested
An employee and her partner are suspected of human trafficking, bribery and abuse of her post.
On Monday morning, November 14, around 7:00 am employee of the immigration service J.M. (1980) and her partner D.F. were arrested. They are suspected of human trafficking, bribery and abuse of her post, say the police of Sint Maarten in a pressrelases.
The arrests are the result of a lengthy investigation that has been ongoing since April 2016, code-named Ostrich. It concerns an investigation carried out by the Unit Human Trafficking and Human Smuggling of the Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) into illegal admittance of Jamaicans and Haitians.
The arrests was carried out by members of this unit in conjunction with the National Detectives Agency.
