If school enrollment does not increase, 5 classes will close

The Collectivité noted that to date, few parents have enrolled their children in public schools for next September’s school year; yet registrations have been opened since January.

"Right now, the number of students enrolled in elementary is very inadequate and will lead to the closing of 5 classes in fall 2016. It has therefore become urgent to enroll children for school" the Collectivité says in a press release.

President Aline Hanson asks parents to complete their registration process as soon as possible, at the Collectivité’s Department of Education, Human Development Services, located rue de la Liberté, in Marigot.

List of documents required per child for any registration or transfer

Registration will not be final if the file is incomplete.

- Photocopy of the family record or extract of birth certificate (child)

- Photocopy of vaccination card (pages 90-93)

- Photocopy of a proof of residence less than 3 months old (electricity, water)

- 2014 Tax or non-taxation assessment

- Photocopy of the parents’ identity card

- Photocopy of judgment for parental authority (in case of separation, divorce ...). And identity card of parents or persons legally responsible.

- Medical Certificate confirming suitability for life in schools (children born in 2013 and 2014).

- Certificate of education or radiation (in case of transfer from public or private school)
