Strike notice for the back-to-school period
As it suggested on March 17, the SE-UNSA Guadeloupe issued a strike notice on 30 March for this Tuesday 5 April, with 24 hours validity - potentially renewable. This strike affects all teachers and the Education personnel of the Collège Mont des Accords, the Collectivité territoriale of Saint-Martin and the whole Academy of Guadeloupe. What is at stake is the safety of students and staff of the Collège Mont des Accords. These are their claims:
"1) increase in support personnel: restoration & recruitment of 4 adults working in support of the staff, recruitment of 2 supervisors and 1 additional “Conseiller principal d´éducation” taking into account the REP (high-priority education network) status of the school;"
(2) urgent creation of a structure to handle cases of disruptive or violent pupils, some of whom can be “repeat offenders”;
(3) Effective application and strict rules for all (this is a recurrent request brought in board and plenary meetings...): consistent and effective sanctions;
(4) Creation of a study period room to better accommodate the pupils; and effective application of detentions;
(5) Establishment of a system of links between school life, the school management, the parents, and teachers;
(6) Enhanced security as pupils enter and exit the school (notably from the backside portal), as well as for the passage for firefighters and entry of teachers;
While trying to set the necessary conditions for pupil’s success and the safety of all users, be assured, Mr. Rector, of our highest consideration."
